Our Objective

The objective of Central Alberta Theatre is to promote and recognize artistic, literary and cultural talent in the performing arts and to develop community interest; to maintain an active organization dedicated to the production of first-rate performing arts on a community level.

Shows every season

Between all the performances staged at the memorial centre, Black Knight Inn and CAT Studios we easily surpass over one hundred shows every year, allowing opportunities of all kinds for our volunteers.

Years Serving our ARTS COMMUNITY

Central Alberta Theatre Society started in 1970 in Red Deer, Alberta, making it one of the oldest not-for-profit, volunteer-based amateur theatre companies in Canada. In 1994, in a mutually beneficial lease-agreement with the City of Red Deer, CAT took over the operation of the 704 seat Memorial Centre Theatre.

Volunteer Hours per Season

Central Alberta Theatre has over Ten Thousand Hours of volunteers per year! With just over 230 active volunteers. Volunteering here or anywhere is a great way to gain experience and discover new talents.
